Cross Country Sundown Showdown
The event is a cross country race held on July 17, 2026, in Carterville, Illinois. The race uses a 5K course with a start and finish behind the Carterville Community Center at 120 N Greenbriar Rd.
Format and details
The event uses a high school-style cross country format with standard scoring and is organized as a team event. Teams consist of 3 to 5 runners; individuals may also run solo. Team scoring is based on runners' finishing positions, with the team that has the lowest total score declared the winner. Awards are planned for the top 20 female and top 20 male finishers and for the top team in each division: Male, Female, and Mixed.
The course surface is mostly grass with some gravel and paved path. The route will be marked with paint at each mile: Mile 1 red, Mile 2 white, Mile 3 blue. A lead vehicle will guide runners through the course. Registration and bib pickup take place at the Carterville Community Center on the day of the race; the shirt deadline is July 5, 2026.
