Crooked Run Valley 5k & 10k - Sky Meadows
The event is held at Sky Meadows State Park, with the start and finish at Turner Pond in Delaplane, VA. Points from this event count toward the 5k, 10k, Back of the Pack Series and the Spring Series.
The course is a scenic loop with views of fields and streams and occasional farm animals. The 5k follows a trail route with exposed roots, rocks, and a gravel hill. The 10k consists of two laps of the 5k course. Walkers may participate and a virtual race option is available for participants who cannot attend in person. Course maps and elevation information are provided separately.
Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (Dri-FIT) event shirt, and the event is chip timed. T-shirts are guaranteed for runners registered by May 12; additional shirts may be available after that date on a first-come, first-served basis. Live results are posted online and a QR code at the event allows immediate result lookup. Final results with series points are published the Monday after the race.
Aid and facilities: water stations are placed at approximately mile markers 0.75 and 1.6 on the 5k, and at 0.75, 1.6, 3.85 and 4.7 on the 10k; some stations offer Gatorade. Port-a-johns are located near the parking area. Packet pickup is available at the event and race day registration is offered; participants are advised to arrive about one hour before their event to check in.
