Crofton's Dam Race - Crofton, Nebraska
Crofton's Dam Race is a multi-event outdoor competition held around Lewis & Clark Lake and finishing on Main Street in Crofton. The event program includes triathlon formats that use kayaking instead of swimming, a road half marathon, and a 12 mile bike ride. Distances offered include:
- 16 miles triathlon (1.5 mile kayak, 5K run, 12 mile bike)
- 13.1 miles half marathon
- 12 miles bike ride
Triathlon entries include individual, team, youth and e-bike categories. Team divisions are composed of two or three members who each complete a different leg. Youth teams are for ages 14 to 19. E-bike entries allow Level 1 and Level 2 e-bikes; e-bike racers are not eligible for prizes. Participants must be 14 years or older.
Courses use the Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area and paved roads and trails east on Highway 54C and south on Highway 121 to Main Street, Crofton. The start is at Weigand Beach and the finish and celebration take place on Main Street in Crofton. Safety equipment requirements include a bicycle helmet and a life jacket. Kayaks may be brought by participants or borrowed from Nebraska Game and Parks.
Awards include a plaque for the overall individual winner, medals for age group winners and the fastest team, and medals for half marathon finishers. Finish line provisions include a t-shirt, a meal and a beverage. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
