About the race
The Creemore Vertical Challenge is a multi-distance trail event in Creemore, Ontario that in 2026 offers the following race options:
- 80K / 50M three laps, about 0.5 mile vertical gain per lap
- 55K two laps, about 0.5 mile vertical gain per lap
- 27.5K one lap, about 0.5 mile vertical gain
- 14K single shorter lap with climbing
The course is roughly 70% road, mostly gravel, and 30% trail. The route uses private trails and gravel roads through the hills around Creemore and includes some scenic viewpoints. Certain private sections are closed to previewing and a full GPX is not provided. Trail sections can be rough when wet.
Aid is provided by four aid stations stocked with water, mixed electrolytes, and snacks; their locations are very approximate at about 2.5 km, 6 km, 13 km, 16.5 km and 20 km. Drop bags are optional for 55K and 80K and will be held at the Start/Finish aid station.
Participants receive event swag that varies by distance, including finisher medals, shirts (long or short sleeve depending on distance and registration timing), socks, and a beer for some distances. Cut off times are stated for each race; the longest event requires a headlamp. Race guides are available for the 27.5K, 55K, 80K and the 14K. The event proceeds in rain and run photography will be provided to runners after the event.
Mad River Park in Creemore is the event base. Parking in town is free with a recommended public lot at the Creemore Arena a short walk from the park. Registration windows and pricing vary by distance for early and regular entry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
