Crazy Mountain 100
The Crazy Mountain 100 is a 100 mile point to point mountain ultramarathon in the Crazy Mountain Range near Wilsall and Lennep, Montana. The course includes roughly 23,000 ft of vertical gain and reaches elevations up to about 10,200 ft. Terrain is primarily single track with long sections of no trail, two track, and occasional forest service road. Runners encounter technical ascents and descents, scree fields, steep slopes, and varied footing; the route is described as very rugged with sections of high exposure.
The course crosses a mix of private ranch land, public forest service land, and the Indigenous lands of the Apsaalooke, known in their language as Awaxaawippíia. Two family owned cattle ranches host the start and finish, and additional private ranches provide access and at least one aid station referred to as Huntin Camp. The finish area is near the ghost town of Lennep on Berg Road and includes on-site camping and an evening awards gathering.
Event entry is listed at $435 with total fees on the registration platform shown as $466.77. Entry is capped at 200 runners and qualifying criteria apply. The race director is a local cattle rancher with years of ultra running experience; finisher buckles are hand engraved. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
