CPM Thame 10K

CPM Thame 10 km is a road race organised by Thame Runners. It is one of Thame’s largest mass participation sports events and regularly attracts around 1000 entrants. Entry is capped at 1000 on advice from the police and Athletics Association, and the race often sells out by early June. The event is held on the last Sunday in June.

The race has roots in the 1980s when a local road race formed part of the Thame Festival of Sports. A 10 km event began in 1984 as a fund-raiser and Thame Runners took over organisation the following year. CPM became the main sponsor in 1994. The event has kept a charity focus since its inception and allocates all profits to Thame based charities, with over £100,000 distributed to date.

The course mixes the historic market town centre and surrounding countryside and was altered to make the return route largely traffic-free by using the Sustrans Phoenix Trail. Feedback highlights the relatively flat profile, the traffic-free sections, and the presence of marshals along the route. The field includes a wide range of runners from top Oxfordshire Grand Prix competitors to local residents running for personal challenge or to raise funds for causes.
