Coyote Wall Trail Races
The Coyote Wall Trail Races are scheduled for Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25, 2026, in the Columbia River Gorge rainshadow. The event offers two trail race distances and uses trails that pass through Douglas fir forest, oak savanna, and grasslands with extensive views of the Columbia River Gorge and Mount Hood.
- 55K : 8,200 feet of climb.
- 25K : 3,900 feet of climb.
The courses include steep sections and technical terrain. Organizers describe the routes as rugged and fairly steep, and they recommend prior trail running experience. Time cutoffs are listed as 9.5 hours for the 55K and 5.5 hours for the 25K. Aid stations are described as well stocked, and included race provisions will feature pizza options with gluten free and vegan choices, drinks, and custom finisher awards by a local artist.
The races were canceled for two years due to impacts from the Burdoin and Top of the World fires; organizers note ongoing trail and habitat restoration. A portion of race proceeds will be donated to local organizations including Columbia High School in White Salmon and Friends of the Columbia Gorge. The event is held under a Special Use Permit through the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, U.S. Forest Service.
