Coyote Wall Trail Races

The Coyote Wall Trail Races feature two trail distances that run through the Columbia River Gorge rainshadow near Coyote Wall. The event returns after two cancellations caused by the Burdoin and Top of the World Fires. Organizers have scheduled new race dates for Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25, 2026.

The courses traverse a mix of Douglas fir forest, oak savanna, and grassland with extended views of the Columbia River and Mount Hood. The routes include steep, sometimes technical terrain and minimal repeated segments. Cutoffs are set at 9.5 hours for the 55K and 5.5 hours for the 25K, and prior trail running experience is recommended.

Distances:

  • 55K 8,200 feet of climb on steep, technical trails
  • 25K 3,900 feet of climb with steep, technical sections

Aid stations are described as well stocked and supported by volunteers. Finisher awards are crafted by a local artist. Food at aid or finish areas has included pizzas from a local vendor with gluten free and vegan options and Reed's ginger ale. A portion of race proceeds will be donated to Columbia High School in White Salmon and to Friends of the Columbia Gorge. The races operate under a Special Use Permit through the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, U.S. Forest Service. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
