Event overview
The Coyote Trail Run takes place on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Cleburne State Park in Cleburne, Texas. The event offers multiple distances:
- 50 mile
- 50K
- 25K
- 8 mile
- 4 mile
All races start and finish at the same location. The 50 Mile, 50K, 25K and 8 mile distances use the same 8.33-mile loop. Loop counts: six loops for the 50 mile, four loops for the 50K, two loops for the 25K, one loop for the 8 mile, and one modified loop for the 4 mile.
Course, aid and pacing
Each 8.33-mile loop has about 800 to 1,000 feet of elevation gain and includes steep climbs and technical terrain. The course uses a single on-course aid station per loop; runners on multiple loops can also access the start/finish aid station. Aid stations provide water, Gatorade, bananas, oranges, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, potato chips, Oreos, fig cookies, soda and electrolyte supplements. This is a cupless race; all runners must carry a hydration device. A reusable collapsible cup is available for purchase at packet pick up. Pacers are allowed only for 50-mile runners on the final loop.
Logistics, awards and policies
Parking will be near the park entrance and participants must take a shuttle to the start/finish area. All participants must have a park day pass, an annual park pass, or camping reservations; park entry for those 13 and older is listed as $6. Awards are given to top overall and masters (40+) finishers in the listed distances. All finishers receive a medal; distance-specific medals are noted for the 50K and 25K. The organizer’s refund and transfer policy specifies race credit amounts based on cancellation timing and limits transfers within two weeks of race day.
