Cossatot River Trail Run
The race is held in Cossatot River State Park - Natural Area in Wickes, Arkansas, on the River Corridor Trail. Trails are rocky, rooty, grassy and dirt single track. Historic average temperatures are listed as 51-72 degrees.
Distances include:
- Half marathon 12.5 miles
- Marathon 25 miles
Elevation gain is hilly: about 2000 ft for the half marathon and about 4000 ft for the marathon. Parking and the finish area are at the park Visitor Center. The half marathon uses a shuttle from the Visitor Center to Bushy Creek for the start; the marathon does not have a shuttle. A headlamp is required for the marathon start.
Required gear includes a handheld water bottle or a hydration vest because this is a no cup event. Aid stations provide water; designated stations also offer hot and cold foods, snacks, electrolytes, pickle juice and ice. Crew access is allowed at all aid and water stations. Drop bags for the marathon are available at the Brushy aid station near the mile 12 turnaround. Participants who withdraw must notify the race director at the start or finish area.
Finishers receive a race t shirt and a finisher medal. Awards are given to first place male and female for each distance and a dfl "dead freakin' last" award is noted for the marathon. Volunteers support race operations. No littering is permitted; violation may result in disqualification. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
