Cossatot River Trail Run - Event details
The Cossatot River Trail Run is an endurance trail event held along the Cossatot River in the Ouachitas at Cossatot River State Park in Wickes, AR (1980 US-278). The event offers two measured trail distances and finishes at the park's Visitor Center.
- 25M "Marathon"
- 12.5M "Half Marathon"
The course follows the River Corridor Trail on single-track surfaces that are rocky, rooty, grassy, and dirt. The terrain is hilly, with listed elevation gain of 4,000 ft for the marathon and 2,000 ft for the half marathon. The half marathon uses a shuttle to the Bushy Creek Recreation Area and the race uses packet pickup at the Visitor Center.
Support on course includes aid station food and hydration, course markings, photography, and volunteers. Participants receive a finisher medal and event tee if ordered by Sep 5; awards are given for first through third places in male and female divisions, and a DFL award is noted for the marathon. The event does not provide disposable cups; participants should bring their own water-carrying system. Historic average temperatures for the event are in the 51 to 72 degree range.
