Corvedale Cake Walk : 25 April 2026

The Corvedale Cake Walk is a Marches LDWA challenge walk organised by the LDWA - Marches Group. The event centre is Holdgate Church, near Much Wenlock, Shropshire TF13 6LW (Grid Ref SO 562896). Entries open on 1 January 2026 and close on 11 April 2026. Entry fees are: 22 miles £19.00 and 10 miles £15.00. All proceeds will go to the Holdgate and Eaton church communities. There will be clearly signed parking nearby.

Routes and practical information

The 22 mile route goes from Holdgate to the summit of Abdon Burf, then to Clee St Margaret (CP 1), Munslow Park, up and over Wenlock Edge to Eaton (CP 2), then back via Wenlock Edge, Wilderhope and return to Holdgate. The 10 mile route goes to Abdon Burf summit, across to Clee St Margaret and on to Tugford, then across fields and lanes back to Holdgate. Both routes return via the Jack Mytton Way. Abdon Burf is described as the highest point in Shropshire; the long route climbs Wenlock Edge with views towards Mid Wales.

Hot drinks will be available at the start. Full refreshments including cakes, sandwiches and hot drinks will be at checkpoints; hot dogs will be served at the finish. No dogs permitted. Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants are advised to bring a mug and suitable clothing. The map is OS Explorer 217, Longmynd and Wenlock Edge.
