About the race
The Corvedale Cake Walk is a Marches LDWA challenge walk based at Holdgate Church near Much Wenlock, Shropshire (TF13 6LW). Routes climb to Abdon Burf, the highest point in Shropshire, and both routes return via the Jack Mytton Way. The longer route also climbs Wenlock Edge with views toward Mid Wales.
Distances and fees:
- 22 miles, entry fee £20.00
- 10 miles, entry fee £16.00
The event includes staffed checkpoints with full refreshments, including cakes, sandwiches and hot drinks; hot drinks are also available at the start and hot dogs will be served at the finish. Parking is clearly signed nearby. The walk is open to walkers and runners; under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Dogs are not permitted because this is livestock country.
Entries open 1 January 2027 and close 10 April 2027; refunds are not available after 1 March 2027. Proceeds will be donated to the Holdgate and Eaton church communities. Participants should carry suitable clothing for changeable weather and the OS Explorer 217 map (Longmynd & Wenlock Edge) is the referenced map.
