Corvedale Cake Walk
The Corvedale Cake Walk is a Marches LDWA challenge walk based at Holdgate Church near Much Wenlock in Shropshire. Routes climb to Abdon Burf, the highest point in Shropshire, and both routes return via the Jack Mytton Way. The longer route also ascends Wenlock Edge with views out to Mid Wales.
Distances:
- 22 miles From Holdgate to Abdon Burf, over Wenlock Edge, return via Jack Mytton Way
- 10 miles From Holdgate to Abdon Burf then across to Clee St Margaret and back to Holdgate
Entries open on 1 January 2027 and close on 10 April 2027. Entry fees are listed for each distance and refunds are not available after 1 March 2027. Parking near the church will be clearly signed. The event provides hot drinks at the start, full refreshments and cakes at control points, and hot dogs at the finish. Participants are asked to bring a mug.
The event note states no dogs because this is livestock country and that under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants should carry suitable clothing for changeable weather and may use OS Explorer map 217 Longmynd and Wenlock Edge. Proceeds will go to Holdgate and Eaton church communities that have assisted with previous events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
