The Markel Corporate Run is a team event offering a 5k run or walk at Innsbrook Office Park with a virtual option. The event emphasizes team participation and workplace networking, and includes a pre-race warm up, a DJ, and a post race Hirschler Office Party where participants 21 and over receive a complimentary beer, hard seltzer, or nonalcoholic beer with ID.
Every participant receives an event shirt, bib number, and sponsor swag. Teams can compete across multiple industry categories for awards, and individual awards include top male and female finisher recognitions as well as CEO Challenge winners. The event also features the Charity Cup, awarded to the team with the highest average donations by May 20th, with proceeds benefiting Greater Richmond Fit4Kids.
Team participation has specific scoring requirements: a company must register a minimum of four full time employees plus a CEO to submit a scorecard, and eligible team categories include men’s, women’s, and mixed teams. Packet pick up is organized through designated times; individual pickup requires a photo ID and someone may collect another person’s packet if they present a copy of that person’s photo ID. Event cost starts at $35 per team member and increases closer to the event date. Volunteer and sponsorship opportunities are available to support event operations and community giving.
