Course and logistics
The course is built from two loops: a North loop of 13.5 km and a South loop of 11.5 km, run in that order to achieve each race distance. Surfaces include single track and fire roads. Elevation gain by distance is listed as approximately: 100K - 9000 ft, 50-mile - 6700 ft, 25-mile - 3350 ft, 13.5-mile loop - 2200 ft, 11.5-mile loop - 1150 ft. The 5K is a mix of road and trail, listed as 3.43 miles with 243 ft elevation change.
Aid stations are located at specified mile points on both loops, with some stations stocked fully and others water only. Time cutoffs: 100K - 37 hours; 50-mile - 35 hours; 25-mile - 35 hours; shorter distances have no cutoff. Pacers are permitted after completion of the third loop (mile 38.5). Crews are restricted to the Cool Staging Area. Drop bags are provided for the 100K, 50-mile, and 25-mile at Cool and Knickerbocker. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
