Cookie Daze
Cookie Daze is a running event held on June 20, 2026, at Athletic Park in Newton, Kansas (700 W 1st St). The program includes two 5K races: a Cookie Fun Run and a Competitive 5K Run. The Fun Run requires participants to eat one cookie at each aid station before continuing on the course; competitive runners do not eat cookies at the aid stations.
The 5K course follows the paved sidewalk of the Sandcreek Bike Path. The route begins with a loop around Athletic Park, continues north to 12th Street, goes south to 1st Street, and returns to Athletic Park. Registration is listed at $35. Early packet pickup is available the day before at Krueger Insurance, and race day registration is noted at $35.
Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers in each age group: 13 and under, 14–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70 and over.
Proceeds support Caring Hands Humane Society and Safehope. The event materials include information about Caring Hands Humane Society’s mission to relieve animal suffering and prevent cruelty and about Safehope’s crisis intervention and support services and recent service statistics.
