Cookie Daze - Newton, KS
Cookie Daze at Athletic Park in Newton, Kansas comprises two 5K events: a Cookie Fun Run and a Competitive 5K. Both use the same 5K course along the paved sidewalk of the Sandcreek Bike Path.
In the Cookie Fun Run, participants eat one cookie at each aid station before continuing. Competitive 5K participants do not eat cookies at the aid stations.
Race day registration is listed at $35. Early packet pickup is scheduled for June 19 at Krueger Insurance (130 E 4th St, Newton, KS). There is an option to purchase a Summer Daze button for $5. Summer Daze takes place at Athletic Park from June 19 to June 21.
The 5K course begins with a circuit of Athletic Park, continues north to 12th Street, heads south to 1st Street, and returns to Athletic Park along the Sandcreek Bike Path sidewalk.
Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers in each age group: 13 & Under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & Over.
All proceeds support the missions of Heart to Heart Child Advocacy Center and Caring Hands Humane Society. Caring Hands promotes education in basic humane animal care, works to relieve animal suffering and prevent cruelty, and reported a 95.5% live release rate as of 2023.
