Event overview
The Emma Creek Classic 5K/1M takes place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Hesston Middle School. This is the 35th annual Hesston Recreation and Community Education Emma Creek run/walk. The event is a fundraiser to support youth programs that might not be able to participate due to budget constraints. The first 500 registrants receive a swag bag and a 2026 Emma Creek t-shirt.

Packet pickup is available the day before at the Hesston Aquatic Center, 300 N Ridge Rd, and day-of packet pickup is also offered. The 5K course is certified and described as fast and flat for women and girls. Timing chips are used. Awards are given to the top 10 overall and the top 3 in each age group; age groups range from 8 and younger through 85 and older. The awards ceremony will last no more than 30 minutes. Strollers are allowed but should line up toward the back of the starting area. Kansas middle school, junior high, and high school track and field athletes are ineligible to compete under KSHSAA rules. No scooters, skates, skateboards, pets, or cell phone use during the race.
