Norris Insurance Converse 5K
The Converse 5K is listed as part of an RRCA sanctioned series of community races that include events in Amboy, Kokomo, Greentown, and Converse. The series features multiple small local races with similar event formats and awards.
Event formats offered for the Converse stop include:
- 5K run
- 5K walk
- Fun run of just under one mile
Entry fees are specified by event type: the fun run fee is $1.00 and does not include a shirt. The run and walk fee is $8.00 in advance and $10.00 on the day of the race. T shirts are provided to participants except those in the fun run. For one race in the series, gloves were provided to participants.
Awards are given in several categories. Runners receive trophies for the top overall male and female finishers and for the top three finishers in each age group, with the possibility of additional trophies if an age group has many entrants. Walkers receive trophies for the top three overall male and female finishers. The fun run awards trophies to the top overall male and female finishers.
Age groups range from 14 and under up through 70 and over, with standard intermediate brackets and a heavyweight category for participants over 185 pounds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
