Conquer the Castle Trail Race
Conquer the Castle is a fall trail event held at the North Chagrin Reservation in Mayfield, Ohio. The race features a variety of distances on a course consisting of well-marked trails through the Cleveland Metroparks. Participants can choose from several individual distance options and specialized divisions.
The event utilizes a 16.7 km (10.35 mile) loop format. Specific distances available include:
- 5K (uses the first 5 km of the loop)
- 10 Mile
- 20 Mile
- 50K (3 loops)
- 100K (6 loops)
In addition to traditional running, the event includes ruck divisions for the 10 mile and 20 mile distances, as well as a 10 mile hike. A 15-hour cutoff time applies to the event, requiring a pace of under 15 minutes per mile. Aid stations are located at the start/finish line and at the 5-mile mark, providing water, electrolyte drinks, and various snacks.
A unique feature of the race is the Castle Climb, an optional 0.15-mile hill climb located behind Squire's Castle. Participants in the 100K, 50K, 20 mile, and 10 mile categories who complete this climb receive a token to be exchanged for specific event awards at the finish line. All participants receive a chip-timed result, a race bib, a custom finisher medal, and a race shirt or optional sweatshirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
