Coniston
From the shores of Coniston Water into the Coppermines Valley, this trail event is based at Coniston Sports and Social Club and uses well marked footpaths and bridleways. The routes take in panoramic views of Coniston Water and the surrounding peaks of the Old Man, Swirl How, Wetherlam and Dow Crags.
Courses
- 10K
- 16K
The courses are mainly scenic, hard packed trails with occasional muddy sections. Routes are marshalled and waymarked by volunteers. Runners should stay alert on road sections and keep to the right where required. There is one short, steep section on the 16K that may be difficult to run and where walking is a sensible option.
Key on-course and venue information includes a timing chip requirement that race numbers be displayed horizontally, a ban on in ear headphones while allowing bone conduction devices, and a prohibition on dogs on the running courses. Participants are asked to carry their own water or a reusable cup for water stations, to close gates behind them where needed, and to avoid leaving litter on course.
The event village includes local food stalls, a Pete Bland Sports presence with inov8 kit, live music and race commentary, portable toilets, and event t-shirts subject to availability. Live results are published online. Parking at the event car parks is charged, with free parking for cars carrying four or more occupants, and cash payment is preferred.
