Event Overview
The Columbia Gorge Marathon takes place over a weekend in October in Hood River, Oregon. The event features races on two consecutive days.
Distances
- Saturday: A Kids' 1K, a 5K, and a 10K.
- Sunday: A Marathon, a Half Marathon, a 2-person Half Marathon Relay, and a Dog Half Marathon (Dog Leg Half).
Course and Scenery
The main Sunday courses follow a route along the banks of the Columbia River, passing through fall foliage. The course utilizes parts of the historic Columbia River Highway, which is now a mix of paved trail and small-town backroads, offering views of the Columbia River Gorge. Both the marathon and half marathon have early start options for participants wanting more time, and the courses have generous cut-off times, welcoming walkers.
Event Features
The finish line for all races is at a riverside festival area. Aid stations with port-a-potties are located every 1 to 3 miles along all courses. Post-race amenities include a catered lunch. Participants in the marathon and half marathon receive a custom finisher's medal and a custom beanie. 5K and 10K runners receive a tech shirt.
