Event overview
The Columbia Duathlon is scheduled for April 12, 2026 in Columbia, Maryland at 7000 Columbia Gateway Drive. The event is USA Triathlon sanctioned and has a capacity of 450 participants. It includes an adult sprint race and two youth divisions. Participants are grouped by age for race starts. The adult race requires a minimum age of 14. Youth participants must be between 7 and 15 years old. All entrants must attend athlete check-in in person; participants 18 and older must present photo ID. Youth athletes must be accompanied by an adult at check-in.

- Sprint: 2 Mile Run, 10 Mile Bike, 2 Mile Run
- Youth (7-10 yrs): 0.5 Mile Run, 2 Mile Bike, 0.5 Mile Run
- Youth (11-15 yrs): 0.5 Mile Run, 2 Mile Bike, 1 Mile Run
Course and logistics
Both adult and youth courses are looped and include one hill; most of the course is relatively flat. The adult bike requires five loops to total 10 miles; the adult run uses one-loop 2 mile legs. The run course for adults is on paved trail and has one aid station at mile 1 offering water and Gatorade. The youth bike is one loop of 2 miles and youth runs take place on parking lot surface. The bike course will have police support and signage at turns. Parking is in the corporate lot at 7021 Columbia Gateway Drive, across from the transition area. The transition area is restricted to athletes and approved attendants for youth; assigned rack spaces and bike number placement are used. Adult athletes receive an ankle timing chip on race morning; youth athletes receive timing chips at the start line.
Awards and registration
Adult awards include overall top three by gender and non-binary category, plus age-group awards. Youth awards are top three by single-year age from 7 to 15. Registration fees include a short sleeve shirt and a finisher medal. Registration transfers to other RIVAL events are not permitted and organizers may close registration if capacity is reached.
