Course and pathway
The route uses the Coastal Pathway track. The North West Coastal Pathway project began in 2009. Construction on several sections - Sulphur Creek to Penguin, West Ulverstone, Leith to Don, and Ambleside to Latrobe - started in 2019 and was completed in 2022. The Turners Beach to Leith section was completed in 2023, creating an additional link in the pathway.
The pathway is described as infrastructure intended to support increased health and wellbeing, to remove barriers for cycling and walking as commuting alternatives, and to support growth in the visitor economy.
Partners
The pathway project involved the Cradle Coast Authority, Safer Roads for Cyclists Tasmania, cooperating local councils and the State Government. Funding for major sections came from local, state and federal government sources. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
