Course and pathway background

The route uses the Coastal Pathway, a regional infrastructure project initiated in 2009 by the Cradle Coast Authority with partner groups including Safer Roads for Cyclists Tasmania, local councils and the State Government. Construction on four sections began in 2019 and those sections were completed in 2022. An infill link between Turners Beach and Leith was completed in 2023.

The source describes benefits of the Coastal Pathway as increased health and wellbeing, more cycling and walking as commuting options, and support for the visitor economy. Local government and community partners are referenced in planning and delivery of the pathway. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
