Course, entry and rules

The course covers 9 miles (14.5 km) with 1250 ft (381 m) of ascent. The race is chip timed and has a maximum field of 350. The minimum age for entrants is 18. There is a cut-off of 60 minutes at Marshall point J, approximately 3.9 miles into the route.

Pre-entry is required. The entry fee is around £14–£15 plus booking or admin fees; FRA-affiliated runners receive a lower rate. The entry includes a small donation to charity or the National Trust.

Runners must carry FRA minimum kit: a waterproof whole-body cover with taped seams and an integrated attached hood, plus hat and gloves. Random kit checks will take place. GPS and other electronic devices are not permitted for navigation. Dogs and MP3 players are not allowed. Teams are permitted, with awards for first men's and first ladies' teams of three.
