Event overview
Climb It For Climate is a mountain trail race at Belleayre Mountain Ski Center in Highmount, New York. The event offers the following distances:
- 25K
- 8K
The race includes an early start option for hikers and a weekend program with group runs, bib pickup and a pre-race dinner. The event is USATF sanctioned.
Course and logistics
The 25K course is currently described as about 15 miles with roughly 5,000 ft of ascent and descent. The 8K course is about 5 miles with roughly 1,400 ft of ascent and descent. The course is not final and may change. The 25K has two on-course aid stations plus water and electrolyte mix at the start/finish area; the 8K has one aid station. This is a cupless event and participants are asked to bring their own hydration pack. Plant-based aid will be provided by Gnarly Nutrition. There are course cutoffs at several points.
Sustainability and community
The event is organized as a zero carbon event, with a small fee in registration to offset carbon emissions for participant travel. Monetary donations and raffle proceeds will support The Catskill Center. Gently worn, used or new shoes will be accepted for Sneakers 4 Good. The event lists several sponsors and offers volunteer opportunities before, during and after race day. Awards include top male, female and non-binary placings, a finisher pin for finishers, and Brooks shoes for top finishers in the 25K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
