Climb It For Climate
Climb It For Climate is a mountain trail event at Belleayre Mountain Ski Center in Highmount, New York, held on August 16, 2026. The event offers two distance options and an added hiking start for those who prefer to hike the course rather than race. Organizers provide course maps and elevation profiles for both routes.
The courses:
- 25K course about 15 miles with 5000 ft gain and descent
- 8K course about 5 miles with 1400 ft gain and descent
The 25K route traverses difficult mountain terrain and includes two on-course aid stations. The 8K follows ski slopes on Belleayre and has at least one aid station. This is a cupless event; water and electrolyte mix are available at the start/finish area and at aid stations, and runners are asked to bring their own hydration pack. Plant-based aid will be provided by Gnarly Nutrition. Cutoffs apply at on-course aid locations.
The event is organized as a zero carbon event with a small registration fee to offset personal travel emissions, and donations are collected for The Catskill Center. Additional activities during the weekend include a shakeout run, bib pickup, a pre-race dinner with vegan and gluten free options, and a live podcast. Volunteers are needed before, during, and after the event; volunteers may earn a future free race entry. Awards include top male, female, and non-binary placements and a finisher pin.
