Cleveland Marathon
The Cleveland Marathon is a multi-race event held May 15-16, 2027. It began in 1978 and is presented as a city running event with a range of race formats and supporting programs.
Distances and official race formats include:
- 26.2 Full Marathon
- 13.1 Half Marathon
- 10K 6.2 miles
- 5K 3.1 miles
Additional options include a Kids Run, a Challenge Series and virtual race participation. The full marathon route was redesigned for 2026 to reintroduce long straightaways and active cheer zones, returning to a legacy second half along Lake Avenue through Lakewood and adding a brief two mile stretch along the shoreway before the final approach through the Hingetown neighborhood to the downtown finish.
Event services and resources listed for participants include course maps and water stops, a pace team and pace chart, training programs and tips, rules and regulations, a charity program with official partners, volunteer resources and sponsor support. In 2026 the race announced a partnership with an apparel maker to provide participant shirts and other race apparel. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
