Event Overview
The Classic Orienteering 5 is a navigation-based sports event held at Huatoki Domain in New Plymouth. Course Categories
The event features five distinct courses designed with varying levels of difficulty and length. Options include:
- Red Long: Hard difficulty with a long distance.
- Red Short: Hard difficulty with a short distance.
- Orange Long: Medium difficulty with a long distance.
- Orange Short: Medium difficulty with a short distance.
- Yellow: Easy difficulty with a short distance.
Championship and Open Classes
Participants can choose to enter championship classes to earn series points or opt for non-championship open classes. Championship categories include Men's and Women's Open, School Boys and Girls, and age-specific groups such as 55+. Open classes are available for the Red, Orange, and Yellow courses.
Registration and Membership
Entry is available online, with limited spare maps provided for those entering on the day. Individuals participating as a team using a single map and timing device (dibber) only need to complete one registration. The club offers membership options for families and individuals, which provides reduced entry fees. Junior members for the 2026 season receive free entry to events.
