Event Overview
The City of Lakes Triathlon takes place in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, often referred to as the "City of Natural Lakes." The multisport event is held over two days, starting with youth activities on Friday and adult competitions on Saturday. The swim portion of the race is conducted in the open water of Twin Lakes, utilizing a 750m loop. Participants encounter high-desert scenery during the cycling leg and complete the run course near the water and community areas.
The event offers several individual and team options:
- Sprint Triathlon: 750m swim, 12.4 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run.
- Olympic Triathlon: 1500m swim, 24.9 mile bike, and 6.2 mile run.
- Aquabike (Sprint & Olympic): Includes the swim and bike portions only.
- Relay Teams: Available for both Sprint and Olympic distances.
Youth Events
The Kids Splash and Dash is held on Friday to launch the weekend. This event is divided into two age categories with specific distances:
- Ages 6-10: 100-yard swim and 1-kilometer run.
- Ages 11-13: 200-yard swim and 2-kilometer run.
