City of Lakes Triathlon (COLT) : Santa Rosa
The City of Lakes Triathlon in Santa Rosa, New Mexico is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event organized by Saturday Warriors. The race offers two distances, Sprint and Olympic, raced in the standard order: swim, bike, run. Wave starts are used and are organized by gender and birth year groups.
Distances:
- Sprint: 750 m swim, 20 K bike, 5 K run
- Olympic: 1500 m swim, 40 K bike, 10 K run
Swim: The swim takes place in Twin Lake on a 750 meter diamond shaped loop swum counter clockwise. Sprint athletes complete the loop once and Olympic athletes twice.
Bike: The bike is an out and back course on newly paved roads with generally light traffic and slightly hilly terrain. The sprint does one lap and the Olympic does two laps. Volunteer support is present on the route, there is one aid station at the turnaround, and a sag wagon will be on course.
Run: The run route goes into town using sidewalk and road shoulder with a short dirt section leaving transition. There are two water stations; Olympic athletes pass them twice.
