Event Overview
The Cider Scamper is a running and walking event held at Old Stone Cider in Lewisville, Pennsylvania. The event serves as a fundraiser for pet rescue organizations, with 100% of direct donations and a portion of race proceeds benefiting these causes. The gathering includes a variety of athletic and social activities centered around the cidery.
The event features two main participation categories:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Competitive Walking 5K
The Competitive Walking 5K is strictly for participants who intend to walk the entire course. Running or jogging is not permitted in this specific category. For the general 5K Run/Walk, a discount is available for children aged 13 and under, which is applied during the registration process.
Amenities and Logistics
Participants receive several amenities as part of their registration. Those who register by March 1 are guaranteed a commemorative t-shirt and a pint glass. Registration after this date includes these items only while supplies last. Additionally, all participants receive one complimentary cider or beer.
The course is timed using a chip timing system. While top awards for overall winners and masters categories are determined by gun time, age group awards are calculated based on net chip time. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in various age groups, as well as the top three male and female competitive walkers. Due to insurance requirements, dogs are not permitted on the race course.
Saturday and Sunday Activities
A pre-race party is held the evening before the event, featuring live music and early bib pick-up. On the day of the race, an after-party takes place following the awards ceremony. This celebration includes live music, pet adoption opportunities, vendors, food trucks, games, raffles, and prizes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
