Chocks Away 5km
Chocks Away 5km is a runway running event held at Exeter Airport and hosted by Cranbrook Running Club and Exeter Airport. The event uses the airport runway for a measured 5 km route, with aircraft activity visible overhead and the runway forming the course to the finish line. Participants will run a single 5 km distance on airport pavement.
Entry is offered for both affiliated and non-affiliated runners; entrants must be 11 years old or older. The event raises funds for charity, with all profits donated to Hospiscare and Young Lives vs Cancer.
After the run, participants receive medals, drinks, and goodie bags. Awards are presented off airside and there is a post-race celebration for attendees. The event is described as a different type of running experience because it takes place on an operational airport runway and involves on-site host organisations.
