Event Details

The Chippewa Trail Races take place in New Auburn, Wisconsin. The start and finish location is the David R. Obey (Chippewa Moraine) Ice Age Interpretive Center on County Highway M. The event offers four distances: a 50K, a 50K Relay for teams of two, a 20 Miler, and a 10K.

The Course

The races are run primarily on the scenic Ice Age Trail, which is a single-track dirt path. The course winds through forests and features views of many lakes, including South Shattuck Lake and Plummer Lakes. Runners will encounter numerous small hills, one major climb near the finish, and landmarks such as Rattlesnake Hill, the Three Sisters Boardwalk, and Kim's Bridge. The terrain includes roots and rocks.

Logistics

Packet pickup is available on Friday before the race at the center from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and on race morning starting at 6:30 AM. Aid stations offer snacks such as Snickers, fruit snacks, cookies, Oreos, Gatorade, and water. The course is marked with pink flags and ribbon. Parking is available at the Interpretive Center lot and along the driveway. The use of external music on the course is not permitted.

Awards and Perks

The top three male and female finishers in each event receive awards. All finishers receive a full-color 8.5 x 11 print of the current year's logo. The event has field limits: 180 for the 50K, 150 for the 20 Miler, 35 teams for the 50K Relay, and 120 for the 10K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
