Chimney Rock 5 Mile Trail Race
The Chimney Rock 5 Mile Trail Race is an annual event held at Chimney Rock Park in Martinsville, New Jersey. The course covers approximately 5 miles of technical terrain, consisting of single-track trails that include obstacles such as rocks, roots, stream crossings, and rolling hills. Participants navigate a route that features both climbs and rocky downhill descents.
The course is marked with signs, and marshals are stationed at various points to provide direction. A single water station is positioned along the route, which runners pass twice, specifically at the 1.5-mile and 4-mile marks. Registration and check-in take place at the Chimney Rock Park parking lot near the park bathrooms, while the start and finish area is located a short walk away near the playground.
Post-race activities include a party featuring pizza, salad, and soft drinks. This gathering is scheduled to take place outdoors at Chimney Rock Park, with an indoor venue as a backup in case of adverse weather conditions. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in 10-year age categories ranging from ages 10 to 80 and over.
