Chilly Dog 5K Race, 1 Mile Run, and 1 Mile Family Walk
The event is scheduled for March 14, 2026 in New Freedom, PA, with the Northern Central Railway station at 117 N. Front St. serving as the event base and registration location.
Distances included:
- 5K race
- 1 mile run for ages 10 and under
- 1 mile family walk
Registration opens at the Northern Central Railway station at 8:45. Participants are asked to arrive no later than 9:30 for registration. After registering, participants may remain on the train to stay warm. Restroom facilities are available inside the train station.
Participants will take a train ride north with a stop at the 1 mile mark for the younger runners and walkers and another stop at approximately 3.1 miles for 5K racers. All participants return on foot to the finish at the train station.
Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded for runners after the event. There is street parking and some lot parking around the train station; allow time for walking from parked vehicles to registration. A raffle will support Northern Central Railway and First Fruit, with prizes donated by the Rail Trail Merchants Network. The raffle draw will take place at Vortex Brewing Company after the awards.
