About the race
The Chicago Fall Classic is a fall road race on Chicago’s lakefront with options for a Half Marathon, 10K and 5K. The half marathon is USATF certified (IL20022NM) and the course is entirely on paved trail along the lakefront, with course maps and an elevation map provided.
Finish-line amenities include caramel apples, hot apple cider and one complimentary beer for participants age 21 and over. All half marathon and 10K finishers receive a finisher medal; a 5K finisher medal is available as an add-on. Results are chip timed and overall and age-group winner medals are awarded for the 5K, 10K and half marathon chip-timed categories. Age categories run from 10 & Under up through 70+.
Participant services include mailed packet delivery for a fee, pre-event packet pickup at Backcountry Chicago (1574 N Kingsbury St, Chicago) and event-morning pickup (not recommended). Gear will typically arrive 1–4 days before the event if mailed. A gear check (clear bag required) and water stations are provided; half marathon water stations include water and sports drink.
Additional features: runner gear choice between a classic t-shirt or an optional premium 1/4-zip pullover, live participant tracking via the RaceJoy app, half marathon pacers across a range of target finish times, and bicycle parking near the start/finish at Montrose Harbor (601 West Montrose Avenue, Chicago).
