Ion Bank Cheshire Road Races
The Ion Bank Cheshire Road Races take place on April 12, 2026 and is limited to 2,000 participants. The event states that participant, volunteer and sponsor safety is the top priority and that it will meet or exceed state and local health protocols. The races raise funds for charities including Abilities Without Boundaries, Best Buddies CT, and the Cheshire Lions Club; historically the event has contributed over $1,000,000 to these and other causes.
The event includes a Healthy Living Festival where companies and local businesses exhibit products and services related to health and activity. The race will host the 2025 and 2026 USATF CT Half Marathon State Championship.
The event program features a half marathon, a 5K and a kids fun run. Course descriptions:
- Half Marathon, flat route through Cheshire and Hamden with long stretches on the Farmington Canal Trail.
- 5K, flat route through Cheshire neighborhoods with few turns.
- Kids Fun Run, noncompetitive 1/4 mile for ages 6 and under or 1/2 mile for ages 7 to 12, ribbons for all finishers.
