Event overview
The Chasing Healthy Smiles 5K is a community run/walk organized by the UB School of Dental Medicine in Buffalo, NY. The event raises funds for BOCA (Buffalo Outreach and Community Assistance) and promotes oral health and overall wellness. Free oral cancer screenings and fluoride applications will be offered at the event. Organizers plan to include educational tables, for example CPR lessons and blood pressure readings.
Location and logistics
The course starts and finishes on Ganson Street in front of Buffalo Riverworks, 359 Ganson Street, Buffalo, NY 14203. There will be one water station near the course midpoint and bottled water available at the finish. Buffalo Riverworks provides free parking. A post-race celebration and awards ceremony will take place at Buffalo Riverworks.
Registration, timing and awards
Online registration remains open until April 16. Packet pickup will take place at Buffalo Riverworks starting at 9:00am and continuing until the race begins. Entry fees listed by the organizer include a 5K registration fee of $35 and general event admission of $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Shirts are guaranteed for 5K registrants who register by April 5; a limited number of additional shirts will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Professional timing will be provided using Jaguar Electronic RFID timing. Trophies will be presented to the first-place overall male and female finishers and the top three male and female age group winners in the listed age brackets.
Policies
In case of foul weather, public safety concerns, or other conditions deemed necessary by organizers, the event may be rescheduled or converted to a virtual 5K. There are no refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
