Event overview
The Charm Bracelet trail event offers two long-distance ultramarathon options:
- 100 miles (the longer route is also described as 104 miles in some materials)
- 50 miles
Both events finish in Skinningrove. The longer route has over 6,000 ft of cumulative ascent; the shorter route has about 1,709 ft. Cut-off times are 40 hours for the 100 and 20 hours for the 50. Minimum age to enter is 20. Entry fees listed are £190 (solo 100), £240 (relay 100 team), and £90 (solo 50); affiliated discounts are shown in the event information. Entrance includes a finisher medal, t-shirt, food and drink at checkpoints, and a GPS tracker for live tracking.
Route, support and logistics
The 100-mile course starts in Dufton and follows the Pennine Way, then the Teesdale Way, joining the King Charles III Coastal Path and the Cleveland Way for the final 6 miles into Skinningrove. The 50-mile course follows the second half of that route, starting at Croft-on-Tees and finishing in Skinningrove. The 100 has 10 checkpoints serving hot and cold meals or snacks; the 50 has four checkpoints. Support runners may join a competitor after the second checkpoint on the 100 (around 20 miles) and may join from the start on the 50. Relay teams may consist of 2 to 4 runners and must arrange their own changeover transport. The event provides GPS tracking, bag-drop at several checkpoints, and on-site first aid. Unsupported entrants must provide proof of a previous 50-mile (or equivalent) event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
