Charleston Distance Run
The Charleston Distance Run takes place on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in Charleston, West Virginia. The event begins at the West Virginia State Capitol at 1900 Kanawha Blvd East and finishes at the University of Charleston Stadium at Laidley Field.
The main course is a 15 mile route that moves through downtown Charleston, passes through hillside neighborhoods, and runs along the riverfront. The course includes rolling terrain and climbs. A separate 5 kilometer course is described as flat and fast. A three person relay uses the 15 mile course split into shorter segments.
Event distances include:
- 15 Mile Race - 15 miles; open to ages 12 and older.
- 3 person 15 mile relay - relay on the 15 mile course with 3, 5, and 7 mile segments.
- 5K Run/Walk - flat 5 kilometer course.
The event materials list a participant guide, timing and results, prize and awards information, and historical race results. Archived results are available for the 15 mile event back to 1973, for the 5K back to 1999, and for the relay from 2012 onward. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
