The 15-mile course runs from the State Capitol through downtown, hillside neighborhoods, and along the riverfront, with turn-by-turn routing that includes climbs such as the section on Route 119 (noted as Capital Punishment Hill). The 5K course is described as flat.

Portajohns are available at the start area and along the course. Timing is by one-time-use timing strip tags on the back of race bibs; both chip and gun times are provided. Baby strollers are allowed in the 5K but not the 15-mile race. Pets are not permitted. Free parking is available at the State Capitol and at nearby lots, including Laidley Field.
