Event Overview
The Chariots of Fire Beach Race is a 5km running event held on the sand of West Sands beach in St Andrews. The route is an out-and-back course run entirely on the beach, with some runners choosing to run through the surf. A separate children's one-mile fun run for participants aged 11 and under is also scheduled.
Race Details
The main 5km race starts at 12 noon, with a one-hour cutoff time. The children's fun run is scheduled to start at 11:30am. All finishers of the 5km race receive a medal and a fudge doughnut. Finishers over the age of 18 also receive a beer, with non-alcoholic alternatives available. The children's fun run includes an ice cream for participants. A prize-giving ceremony for the top three male and female finishers in both races is planned.
Registration and Logistics
Registration takes place on race day at a marquee adjacent to the Dook Cafe on West Sands. There are no changing facilities, but toilet facilities, including portaloos, are available nearby. Plentiful free parking is located behind the sand dunes, with marshals directing traffic. Participants are encouraged to wear all white attire, though it is not mandatory. All proceeds after essential costs are donated to charity, including the RNLI.
