Event Overview
The Chariots of Fire is a charitable relay race in Cambridge, scheduled for Sunday, 20th September 2026. The event is organized in partnership with HCR Hewitsons and race specialists RunThrough.
Format and Participation
The event is a team-based relay where each runner completes one lap. It offers multiple team categories: Male Team, Female Team, Mixed Team, Veteran Male Team, Veteran Female Team, Veteran Mixed Team, Super Veteran Team, and College Team.
Charitable Focus
The race is a city tradition that has raised over £1.5 million for local charities. The 2025 event supported Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity. The charity partner for 2026 will be announced in February 2026. The entry fee covers event costs, and teams are encouraged to set up fundraising pages.
Course and Support
The course is held at Queen's Green on Queen's Road, Cambridge. Each kilometre is marked with distance flags. A team of marshals is present on the course to guide and cheer on participants.
