Charcoal Challenge 5k Fun Run
The Charcoal Challenge 5k Fun Run is a fundraiser held on June 13, 2026 at Pine Grove Furnace State Park. The event is promoted by Friends of Pine Grove Furnace to benefit their 501(c)(3) nonprofit and to support recreation, education and conservation at the park.
The course is a trail race that also allows walking and follows several park trails and gravel roads. The route includes a hill and minor trip hazards. There is no timing or race bibs; participants receive participation prizes and complimentary snacks and hydration.
Registration is available online until June 12 at 5 PM. On-site registration is available the morning of the event; payment by cash or check only. The standard registration fee is $25, and registration is free for participants aged 12 years and under. Bulk pricing for youth running clubs is offered by the organizers. Event T-shirts are an additional fee - $20 for adult sizes and $15 for youth sizes - and are available only for registrations received by 5 PM on May 21.
Registration, the pavilion near the old stone furnace stack, and the park office use the address 1100 Pine Grove Road. Participants are asked to park at the Fuller Lake lot at 1050 Pine Grove Road and allow about 5 to 10 minutes to walk to the registration area. Restrooms are located at registration.
