The Champaign Aruna Run is a charity 5K run/walk held at the University of Illinois Arboretum, 1800 South Lincoln Avenue, Urbana, IL. The event is part of the Aruna Run Series and directs funds to support survivors of human trafficking.
The distance for participants is 5K. Packet pickup and walk-up registration are available at the Arboretum on race day. Parking is available at the Arboretum, on nearby streets, and in the College of Veterinary Medicine parking lot.
Registration fees are tiered by date and are listed in the event information. Registrants who register by September 20 are guaranteed a race t-shirt and size. The event notes that 100% of registration fees are used to free, employ, and empower trafficked women, with a majority of funds supporting Aruna Project training centers in Southeast Asia.
Awards are given to the top female and male finishers and to the top fundraiser; these awards include an Aruna Dopp Kit and a $50 Aruna Shop gift card. Team-building and fundraising incentives include Aruna gift cards for teams and individuals meeting specified thresholds; gift cards are issued after the event and can be redeemed through the Aruna Project shop.
