Chad's Day for Change Urban Trail Race
This event takes place at Gold Bar Park in Edmonton. It features an urban trail course that highlights the river valley trail system in Edmonton's east end. The start and finish are at Gold Bar Park.
Participants can choose from a variety of distances. The main course consists of three different loops.
- 34 km solo
- 34 km relay for 2 or 3 runners
- 21 km Half Marathon
- Individual loop distances of 12 km, 10 km, or 5 km walk/run
- A 1.2 km kids event
The three loops depart from Gold Bar Park. The 12 km Dawson Park loop is described as the flattest, with a mix of paved and dirt trails. The 12 km Sunridge loop crosses the North Saskatchewan River into the Sunridge Ski area. The 10 km Goldstick Park loop is noted as potentially the most difficult, with ups and downs on scenic trails.
The event is held to honour a memory and raise awareness for men's mental health. A portion of the registration fee supports the organization HeadsUpGuys, which provides online resources on this topic. All finishers, except those in the kids event, receive a t-shirt and a finisher's medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
