Chad’s Day For Change Urban Trail Race
Urban trail race starting from Gold Bar Park that highlights the east end of the river valley trail system. The route uses single-track and double-wide trails and follows three distinct loops: a 12 km loop to Dawson Park, a 12 km loop crossing the North Saskatchewan River into the Sunridge Ski Area, and a 10 km loop through Goldstick Park. The loops pass by fishing spots and trails used with a family dog and children in memories honoured by the event.
The event is held in memory of an individual who died by suicide on August 13, 2023. Its stated goals are to raise awareness of men's mental health issues, encourage conversations among men who suffer in silence, and publicize groups that provide support. HeadsUpGuys is identified as an online platform offering resources and education on depression and suicidal thoughts while preserving user anonymity.
All finishers receive a finisher medal; shirts are provided for all events except the kids event. The kids event requires a minimum CA$5 donation with no other fees. Each registration includes a CA$10 add-on option for HeadsUpGuys and participants may donate more. Current fundraising for HeadsUpGuys shows CA$109.51 raised toward a CA$5,000 goal.
