Wendover Woods 50®
Wendover Woods 50® is a 50 mile (~81 km) trail ultramarathon held within Wendover Woods, Aston Hill, Halton, Aylesbury (South-East England). The route is five repeated 10 mile loops on forest trails and tracks operated by Forestry England. The course includes about 10,000 ft (3050 m) of ascent and descent and is primarily off-road (99% trail, 1% road). The race is marked and supported with medical cover and a total of nine aid stations.
Race details
Runners must finish within a 15 hour overall cut-off. Entry is by paid registration (£115) on a first-come, first-served basis; there is no on-the-day entry and no waiting list. To enter, runners must have completed at least a marathon distance within that event's cut-off between 1 January 2020 and race day. The event issues a finisher medal and prizes for first to third places in male and female categories and for multiple veteran categories.
Aid stations are well stocked with options for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets, including gels, electrolyte drinks, water, soft drinks, fruit, snacks and sandwiches. Drop bags are stored at registration and are accessible at the end of each loop; they must be clearly labelled and not exceed 50 litres. Pacers and crew are not permitted. Mandatory kit includes a charged mobile phone, survival blanket, whistle, waterproof jacket, warm hat and gloves, a dry long-sleeved top for emergencies, a personal cup and carried lighting (primary and backup, minimum 100 lumens) when required for later loops.
