Centurion Wendover Woods 50
The event is a 50 mile foot race run as five 10 mile loops entirely within Wendover Woods, woodland managed by Forestry England. The route is almost all trail (99% trail, 1% road) and includes 10,000 feet of climb and 10,000 feet of descent across a mix of wide soft trails, runnable climbs and some much steeper ascents and descents. The course is marked with pink ribbons and Centurion marker arrows and is held under a UK Athletics permit. The race date is 14 November 2026 and the location for registration, start and finish is Trig Point Field, Aston Hill, Halton, Aylesbury, HP22 5NQ. The overall time limit for the course is 15 hours. The entry fee is £115 and field size is capped at 250 starters. Entries open 6 December 2025 on a first come, first served basis; there is no on the day entry.
Nine well stocked aid stations provide food and drink with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options, including gels, chews, electrolyte drink, water, fizzy drinks, sweets, nuts, fruit, sandwiches and hot drinks. Drop/finish bags can be deposited at registration, must be labelled and must not exceed 50 litres; they are accessible at the end of each 10 mile loop. Pacers and crew are not permitted; supporters are allowed on course except at the Hale Lane aid station and may not hand items to runners. A dedicated medical team provides static and roving support, though some parts of the course are remote. Qualification requires completion of at least a marathon within the cut off of that event between 1 January 2021 and race day. Awards include a finisher medal, purchasable tee shirts and prizes for the top three male and female finishers plus veteran categories.
Mandatory kit includes a fully charged mobile phone, survival blanket, whistle, waterproof jacket with sealed seams, warm hat, gloves, a dry long sleeve layer kept separately, a personal cup and primary and backup lights of minimum 100 lumens when running later loops.
