Elite Track Ultramarathon
The Centurion Track 100 is an elite-level event held at the Bedford International Athletics Stadium. The race takes place on a 400-meter all-weather track, providing a flat surface with zero elevation gain. This event is specifically designed for record-setting under fast conditions and holds a Gold Label from the IAU for multiple distances and time-based marks.
The primary focus of the event is the 100 mile distance. However, official and ratifiable splits are also recorded for several other marks:
- 50 km
- 50 mile
- 100 km
- 6 hours
- 12 hours
Participants run in lanes 1, 2, and 3. To maintain variety and meet technical requirements, runners change direction every 4 hours. The field is strictly limited to approximately 25 runners to ensure optimal space on the track. This is an invitation or qualification-only event, requiring athletes to have met specific performance standards in recent races, such as sub-3:05 for 50 km or sub-15:00 for 100 miles for men, and sub-3:40 for 50 km or sub-17:00 for 100 miles for women.
The event features professional electronic timing overseen by UKA officials. A full aid station is available for the duration of the race, and runners are encouraged to bring their own support crews. Each runner is allocated a designated crew area on the infield from which they can receive assistance. Anti-doping measures are in place for any world or continental open records.
