Centennial Route 66 5K : Springfield, Illinois
The Centennial Route 66 5K takes place on June 6, 2026, at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, 801 Sangamon Ave, Springfield, IL 62706. The event commemorates the 100th anniversary of Historic Route 66 and is centered at the Gate 2 Route 66 Experience exhibit within the fairgrounds.
Participants can choose between two event formats:
- 5K in-person race
- 5K Virtual Run
The in-person course follows a scenic loop through the fairgrounds and includes a full one mile on the Illinois State Fair Grandstand Track. An official one mile split time will be recorded for runners on that track.
All finishers will receive a custom-designed finisher medal created for the Centennial Route 66 5K. Awards will be presented to top overall finishers and to age-group winners in five year brackets.
Registration opens December 4, 2025 and closes March 2, 2026. The registration fee for each listed 5K event is $30.00.
