The Centennial Route 66 5K takes place on June 6, 2026, at the Illinois State Fairgrounds - Route 66 Scenic Byway in Springfield, IL (801 Sangamon Ave, 62706). The event includes these distances:

The event is organized by Centennial Route 66 5K and marks the 100th anniversary of Historic Route 66.

Course and awards

The 5K course starts and finishes at the Illinois Route 66 By-Way and follows a loop through the fairgrounds. At about the 1-kilometre point the route enters the Illinois State Fair Grandstand track for a full one-mile loop, then exits the track and continues around the fairgrounds back to the By-Way. A 1-mile split time will be recorded during the race. Course turns are marshaled and marked.

All finishers receive a custom finisher medal. Awards are given to top overall finishers and to age-group winners in 5-year brackets. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
