Event Overview
The Celebrate West Hartford Fun Runs take place on a Sunday in early June. The event features a Kids' K dash and a standard 5K race, as well as a special 5K for members of listed youth clubs. It is held alongside a two-day town festival. A portion of the proceeds supports local charities, including a fund for low-income children to access recreational programs.
Course and Activities
The morning begins with the non-competitive Kids' K, a dash around Blue Back Square for children up to age 10; all finishers receive a medal. The 5K course goes north through historic West Hartford Center and includes a section on the paved Trout Brook Trail, finishing back at Blue Back Square. The 5K route is USATF certified. After the run, an Awards Ceremony and Refueling Reception is held at Town Hall in the Festival Dining Tent.
Awards and Registration Details
Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in ten age categories for the 5K. The overall male and female winners, as well as the top West Hartford residents, receive prizes valued at a minimum of $100. Trophies are given to the first-place male, female, and runners over 65. All 5K participants can enter a raffle for prizes. Those who register for the 5K by a specified date in May are guaranteed a race T-shirt.
