About the race
The Cederberg Traverse is a multi-day trail running event in the Cederberg Wilderness, based at Sanddrif in the Western Cape, South Africa. The event has been postponed to 7 to 10 October 2027 and runs across rugged, rocky mountain terrain in a solo format. Entry categories listed by the organiser include: - The Cederberg Night Ultra 50 km - 60 km Day Run - 110 km mountain run - 21 km Mountain Run - 100 Miler (listed as 160 km) All races start and finish at the race base in Sanddrif. The 100 Miler follows the 110 km route plus the 50 km Night Ultra route.
The event is described as fully self-sufficient with en route cut-offs and compulsory kit checks at registration. Compulsory kit for the longer races includes a trail pack, waterproof jacket, at least 2 litres hydration, food for up to 16 hours, thermal base layer, space blanket, whistle, buff, headlamp with spare batteries, personal GPS, charged cellphone, powerbank, reusable cup, and a drop bag for checkpoints. Entries include race garments, a bottle of Cederberg wine, finishers potjie, Sunday brunch, nature conservation fees, and refuel stations. Medics and marshals are placed at key points.
