Location
The Cedar Bend Endurance Event is a loop race in Cedar Bend Park, located just north of Waverly, Iowa.
Course Format
Participants choose to run for either a 4-hour or an 8-hour time frame. Both events start at the same time. The goal is to complete as many laps of the 3.15-mile (approx. 5km) loop as possible within the chosen time limit. Only laps finished within the allotted time are officially recognized.
Course Details
The loop goes around the perimeter of the park. The course is a mix of singletrack trail, wider trail, and gravel, with roughly one-fifth of each loop on gravel. The trails are described as well-maintained but with some technical aspects. Each loop contains roughly 200 feet of elevation gain.
Event Logistics
A fully stocked aid station is located at the start/finish line. No aid may be given to runners outside of this main station. There is sufficient room for crews, though parking is limited. Participants may switch from the 8-hour to the 4-hour event during registration, but not vice-versa, with no refund for the difference.
Awards
Awards are given to the top three overall male and top three overall female finishers for both the 4-hour and 8-hour events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
