Cedar Bend Endurance Event
The Cedar Bend Endurance Event is an endurance run held at Cedar Bend Park, located just north of Waverly, Iowa. Participants can choose between two primary time-based formats to test their distance limits on a recurring loop course.
Course Details
The race takes place on a 3.15 mile (approximately 5.2 km) loop that winds around the perimeter of the park. The terrain consists of a mix of single-track trails, double-wide tracks, and gravel sections. Approximately one-fifth of the loop is gravel, while the remainder is trail. Each loop features roughly 200 feet of elevation gain and includes some technical aspects.
Event Formats
Participants compete in one of two timed categories:
- 4 hour endurance run
- 8 hour endurance run
Only laps completed within the allotted time frame are officially recognized. In the event of a distance tie between participants, the runner who completed the distance first receives the higher ranking.
Facilities and Regulations
A fully stocked aid station is located at the start and finish line. Regulations state that runners may only receive aid at this primary station; receiving assistance elsewhere on the course results in disqualification. Space is provided for crews to set up tents, with a maximum size limit of 10x10. The park remains open to non-race traffic during the event. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers in both the four-hour and eight-hour categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
