Event overview
Cayuga Trails is a trail ultramarathon held Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Old Y Camp, Robert Treman State Park, Ithaca, NY. The event offers two distances:
- 50 miles
- 31.6 miles (50K)
The field cap is set to 440 entrants. Registration opens October 15, 2025. Entrants receive a finisher’s medal from Ragged Cuts and post-race food from Fitnell Farms; additional schwag for 2026 is to be determined. Portions of each entry fee support the Finger Lakes Land Trust, Finger Lakes Trail Conference, and State Parks Heritage Trust. The event has a no-refund policy but will roll entries into another Red Newt Racing event if notified at least 30 days before the race.
Course, aid, and logistics
The course is roughly 95% trail and 5% paved. It includes miles of singletrack, dozens of waterfalls, historic stone stairs, and mixed eastern forests. Elevation gain is about 10,200 feet for the 50-mile course and about 6,882 feet for the 50K. Aid stations provide water, E-drink options (such as Tailwind), Coke, and foods like PB&J, bacon, potatoes, soup, and fruit; some gluten-free options are available.
Drop bag locations: Y Camp staging area (miles 10, 25, 35) and Buttermilk (miles 15, 20/20.5, 40, 45/45.5). Buttermilk drop bags are not returned to the staging area until that aid station closes; unclaimed bags will not be returned. Parking and staging differ for the two distances and may require a walk of about one mile from the lower park lot to the Y Camp staging area.
