Event Overview
The Cayuga Trails trail running event takes place on May 30, 2026, in Ithaca, New York. The event features two distances: 50 Miler and 50K. The 2026 edition will be its 14th running.
Course Details
The course is known for its scenic trails. It consists of roughly 95% trail and 5% paved surfaces. Runners will encounter singletrack trails, waterfalls, gorges, historic stone stairs, and mixed eastern forests. The approximate elevation gain is 10,000 feet for the 50-mile distance and 7,000 feet for the 50K.
Participant Information
Entrants receive a Patagonia Sun Hoody and a finisher's medal. Post-race food is provided. Participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable cup or bottle for aid stations. A portion of each entry fee supports the Finger Lakes Land Trust, Finger Lakes Trail Conference, and State Parks Heritage Trust for local trail and park projects.
Logistics
The event has a field cap of 440 individuals, with a waitlist managed before race day. Crews are permitted, but parking is limited; additional crew cars are not allowed. Poles are allowed on the course. Pacers are not permitted. Drop bags are available at specific aid stations, but bags left at the Buttermilk station will not be returned to the start until the aid station closes.
Registration Policy
The event has a no-refund policy. However, entries can be rolled into another Red Newt Racing (RNR) event if notification is given at least 30 days before the race. No refunds or rollovers are allowed for notifications within 30 days of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
