About the race
Lowland Rescue Cawston presents a new 5 mile trail race held within the grounds of the Cawston Park estate, Norfolk. The off road course follows forest paths and will be marshalled and signposted. Timing is fully chip based by Total Race Timing and water is provided roughly at the halfway point and at the finish. The event is organised by Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue, a voluntary charity that works with police and other emergency services to find vulnerable missing people.
Funds raised support search work; example uses given are canine first aid kits for £25, life jacket maintenance for £50 and fuel for the incident command unit for £100. Facilities on site include car parking with a small cash charge of £2 per car, toilets at the race HQ and refreshments of tea, coffee and cakes for sale. There are no changing facilities and no baggage drop. The park entrance lies on the B1145 between Cawston and Aylsham; the post code is NR10 4JD and the what3words location for the entrance is ///insisting.oasis.published. Event rules note a minimum age of 15 years, headphones are not permitted including bone conduction types, and dogs, buggies and wheelchairs are not permitted.
