Catalina Island races in Avalon and Two Harbors
The event comprises multiple running distances held on Catalina Island, with routes on island dirt roads, trails and city streets. The trail marathon begins in Two Harbors and returns to Avalon, and the marathon route lists a net elevation gain of over 4,300 feet with ocean vistas and occasional sightings of American bison.
The 10K follows Avalon streets past historic homes, a golf course and up to the Wrigley Memorial before finishing downtown near the water. The 5K is described as hilly and provides views toward Long Beach. A 1K kids run finishes downtown; parents may escort their runner.
