Castle Trails 30km
Castle Trails 30km is a point-to-point trail race following the River Medway for 30 km from Little Fant Farm in East Farleigh to Tonbridge School Centre. The route uses the second half of the Three Castles 50 km course and runs along riverside trails, passing East Farleigh Bridge, Teston Country Park, Wateringbury, Yalding and the Hop Farm before approaching Tonbridge and its athletics track finish.
The course is described as flat and fast and is fully marked. There are three staffed checkpoints located at Barming Bridge (4 km), Branbridges Leisure (14 km) and Racecourse Park (25 km). The event provides professional chip timing with live GPS tracking, bag transfer from start to finish, medical support, and three fully stocked aid stations. Finishers who complete the course within the official cut-off receive a medal. A finish village offers showers, changing facilities and refreshments, and awards are given to the top three male and female finishers.
Entry includes an optional pre-paid shuttle bus from the finish to the start priced at £12 per person; this runner-only service is non-refundable and non-transferable. Free parking is available at Little Fant Farm for arrival; leaving a vehicle at the venue during the event carries a £2 charge and vehicles should be collected by 18:30 on race day.
Event rules require participants to be at least 18 years old, remain on the marked course, complete the challenge on foot, and check in at every checkpoint. Pacers are not permitted, dogs are not allowed on the course and littering results in disqualification. Mandatory kit includes a fully charged mobile phone with the Race Director's number saved and a minimum 500 ml fluid carrying capacity. This is a cupless event; a reusable cup may be carried in addition to a drinks bottle. Mandatory kit may be updated depending on the weather forecast.
